Is Uriah Smith’s book correct on Prophecy?

Where did the controversy start?
Ever since Louis Were wrote his book in the 1940s against Uriah Smith and the King of the North, the SDA church has been violently opposed to the book Daniel and the Revelation.  So much so, that they released a “revised” version of the book…  Or in reality, they released a butchered version of the book that makes absolutely no sense.  Since then, many lies have been spread about Uriah Smith.

If the negative statements have turned you against Uriah Smith’s writings, I suggest you consider this text before you read on: Luke 6:26  Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

So the question is, why do we promote this book so much?  Simple, these statements:

Young men, take up the work of canvassing for Daniel and the Revelation. Do all you possibly can to sell this book. Enter upon the work with as much earnestness as if it were a new book. And remember that as you canvass for it, you are to become familiar with the truths it contains. As you ponder these truths, you will receive ideas that will enable you not only to receive light, but to let light shine forth to others in clear, bright rays.  {1MR 63.3}

God desires the light found in the books of Daniel and Revelation to be presented in clear lines. It is painful to think of the many cheap theories picked up and presented to the people by ignorant, unprepared teachers. Those who present their human tests and the nonsensical ideas they have concocted in their own minds, show the character of the goods in their treasure house. They have laid in store shoddy material. Their great desire is to make a sensation. {1MR 62.3}
The truth for this time has been brought out in many books. Let those who have been dealing in cheap sentiments and foolish tests, cease this work and study Daniel and the Revelation. They will then have something to talk about that will help the mind. As they receive the knowledge contained in this book, they will have in the treasure house of the mind a store from which they can continually draw as they communicate to others the great, essential truths of God’s Word. {1MR 62.4}
The interest in Daniel and the Revelation is to continue as long as probationary time shall last. God used the author of this book as a channel through which to communicate light to direct minds to the truth. Shall we not appreciate this light, which points us to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, our King? {1MR 63.1}

There are over 20 statements to this effect in EGW writings.

Why The Controversy?
Possibly the most controversial text in history of Adventism is Daniel 11:45.  Many independent groups have incredibly varied views, and controversy can even be found among the Advent pioneers.  But what is the source of this conflict, and can it be resolved?  The answer to the second part of the question is a resounding yes.  With an understanding of Ellen Whites writings and the history of the Advent message, it is quite easy to resolve.

But is it really that important?  To answer that, first it is wise to read the text and the text that follows:
Daniel 11:45  And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

Daniel 12:1  And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

Clearly this text is very important to understand, as it is the final sign given before the end of time, yet much of Adventism has departed from clear revealed truth in their interpretations.

If you are open minded on this topic, I believe you will clearly see what the truth is by reading this book:

The Final Way Mark- by Gene Brown (pdf)

if you want a hard copy, the Author has contact details in the pdf.

This is an outstanding book that shows the history of this issue, and exposes the lies many independent groups have been fed and then propagated.  This is not designed to separate us as a people, but unite us under the platform of truth that has been discarded by the vast majority of Adventism.  If you are truly genuine about your faith, and wanting to know the truth, this book is by far the clearest one you will read on this topic.   I recommend this is read very prayerfully and with an open mind.
